Misconceptions of What a Realtor Does

Have you ever thought about what a Realtors does? I would say that most people believe their one and only duty is to show prospective buyers homes. Actually there is much more to being a Realtor than showing homes. Here are just a few things that a Realtor must know:

  • Housing Market Trends

  • Prices

  • Mortgage Information

  • Legal Requirements

  • Business Details for Contract Writing

This is just a short list but shows Realtors have to spend much time researching and attending continuing education classes to stay updated on all aspects of real estate to be an effective agent for you.

If you are a buyer, a Realtor is going to advise you of the value of the home your are considering buying, write the contract, negotiate the contract, and give guidance along the way until closing to make sure the transaction runs as smoothly as possible.

If you are a seller, a Realtor will provide you with statistical data to effectively price your home for a quick sell (it is important to note that Realtors do not control the market or market value), effectively market your home to ensure it has maximum exposure, and stay in contact with you through your listing all the way to the closing table.

I love being a Realtor because I love change...actually I live for it. Real Estate is always changing, no two contracts or customers are alike. I love being a Realtor!
